Davule’s Commonwealth campaign ends early

Team Fiji's boxing captain, Jone Davule, has concluded his Commonwealth Games campaign following an opening-round defeat in the men's 60-kilogram preliminary bout. Davule was unable to advance after losing to Quadrat Ullah of Pakistan in Scotland.

The Fijian captain cited a referee's warning during the contest as a costly factor in his loss. Despite the disappointment of not securing a win, Davule acknowledged the value of competing against top boxers from across the Commonwealth. "To Team Fiji, who came out to support me today, and to my family and friends back home whose support made it possible for me to be here, I’m sorry I couldn’t get the win," he stated.

Davule, who was making his third appearance at the Commonwealth Games, plans to use this experience as motivation to continue improving his skills. He previously reached the round of 32 at the 2018 Gold Coast Games and advanced to the round of 16 at Birmingham 2022. Davule expressed his support for Fiji's remaining boxers and will be cheering them on from the stands as they continue the nation's campaign.
