Day Thousands of PDP, ADC Bigwigs Joined Abiodun’s Carnival in Ogun

Ogun State's political landscape saw a significant shift as thousands of supporters gathered to witness a large-scale defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The event, held at the Oba Adetona Pavilion in Ijebu-Ode, was described as carnival-like, with Governor Dapo Abiodun officially welcoming the new members. He declared the APC as the dominant political platform in Ogun State ahead of the 2027 elections. The governor expressed his pleasure, stating, "We are happy you have seen the light and you have decided to follow the light. You have become one of us from now on."

Governor Abiodun used the occasion to showcase his administration's accomplishments since 2019, emphasizing infrastructure and economic development across the Ogun East Senatorial District. He cited the construction of over 100 roads, including 26 in Ijebu-Ode alone, and highlighted key projects such as the Gateway International Airport, the Olokola Deep Sea Port, and the Olokola-Kajola Gas Industrial Free Zone. Abiodun also announced upcoming projects, including the reconstruction of the Ago-Iwoye–Ibadan Road, with support from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The governor further projected that Ogun State would soon join the ranks of oil-producing states, citing the development of the Olokola Deep Sea Port and the revival of the Olokola LNG project as transformative initiatives for the region's economy. He commended President Tinubu for his support and expressed certainty that the South-West region would back Tinubu's 2027 re-election bid based on his developmental track record.

Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, attributed the influx of opposition members to Governor Abiodun's performance and assured the defectors of equal rights and privileges within the party.
