Daylight purse-snatching attack shocks Paleo Faliro residents

A woman was violently attacked and robbed of her purse in broad daylight in the affluent Athens suburb of Paleo Faliro. The incident, captured on security footage, shows the woman attempting to enter her apartment building when an unknown man suddenly attacked her, knocking her to the ground and grabbing for her bag.

"I put the keys in the door and, out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone coming fast from behind and grabbed me, knocked me down, and was pulling my bag," the victim recounted. She described the shock of being attacked while simply trying to enter her home. "I'm terrified. Is this possible? To go to enter your home, have someone pull you, knock you down... I went crazy with this man."

The assailant, who had apparently followed the woman unnoticed, seized the opportunity to attack her in the building's entrance. The victim initially froze but then began shouting, holding onto her bag and struggling against the attacker. The items she was carrying in her hands were scattered during the struggle.

Alerted by her cries, some residents of the building rushed out. One resident attempted to chase the assailant, but he managed to escape. According to local residents, such incidents of theft and assault are frequent in the wider coastal area of Paleo Faliro, and they are calling for improved policing in the region.
