The decision hearing in the trial of the Aziz İhsan Aktaş criminal organization is ongoing, with the defense team for Avcılar Mayor Utku Caner Çaykara presenting their arguments. The mayor has been in pre-trial detention for 14 months.

Mayor Çaykara's lawyer, Berfin Arslan, stated that her client is being held based on allegations that lack supporting evidence. She criticized the proceedings, noting that an individual who turned witness received a reward, while the mayor, despite his position, has been imprisoned for over a year.

"This person, who did not even bother to support their claims with evidence, was rewarded. The informant received their reward. My client, as a mayor, has been paying the price for 14 months," Arslan told the court. The defense is arguing for Çaykara's release, asserting that the legal process has been unjust and lacking in concrete proof against the mayor.
