Gezi and İBB trial detainees transferred from Istanbul prisons

Detainees from two high-profile Turkish trials, the Gezi Park case and the Istanbul Municipality (İBB) case, are being transferred from prisons in Istanbul to facilities in other provinces. The moves have raised concerns among legal representatives who state they have not been officially notified.

Çiğdem Mater and Mine Özerden, who have been imprisoned for four years in connection with the Gezi trial, were transferred from Bakırköy Prison in Istanbul to Şakran Prison in İzmir. Simultaneously, four individuals held under the İBB case were moved from Silivri Prison to Kandıra Prison.

Lawyers for the detainees expressed uncertainty about the transfers. "We have not received the transfer orders. We do not know the details," stated the lawyer for Mine Özerden, highlighting a lack of official communication. This lack of transparency has fueled speculation and concern among supporters and legal teams regarding the reasons and implications of these relocations.
