"Deep Purple" rock legend Hughes halts concert activities due to health problems

Glenn Hughes, the iconic bassist and singer for the rock band Deep Purple, has announced he is pausing his concert career due to ongoing health concerns. Known globally as "The Voice of Rock," Hughes revealed that he must undergo another open-heart surgery.

Hughes explained that extensive medical tests, including multiple MRI and CT scans, along with echocardiograms, led his medical team to the decision for further surgery. "I really have no other choice, as my health is the most important thing," he stated. He expressed deep gratitude for the life he has lived, enriched by the gift of music, and thanked his supporters for accompanying him on his journey.

Hughes, a British musician, first gained prominence in the early 1970s as a member of the rock band Trapeze. He later joined Deep Purple from 1973 to 1976, contributing his distinctive vocals and collaborating with organist Jon Lord to shape the band's sound during that era. His career also includes recording an album with Black Sabbath and lending his voice to The KLF's techno-rock hit "America: What Time Is Love?" He has also founded and been a member of other bands throughout his career.
