Democratic Party leader advises against appointing In Yo-han as Red Cross chief

Kim Min-seok, leader of the Democratic Party, has advised President Lee to refrain from appointing In Yo-han as the next chairman of the Korean Red Cross. The recommendation was conveyed to President Lee following a dinner meeting with the Democratic Party leadership. Park Seong-jun, the party's senior spokesperson, stated that the decision was based on a consensus of opinions gathered from within and outside the party. The National Assembly's Public Service Ethics Committee had previously ruled that In Yo-han, a former lawmaker of the People Power Party, was eligible for the Red Cross position. However, some within the ruling party's base have voiced opposition, citing In Yo-han's past actions, including his alleged absence from a vote on impeaching former President Yoon Suk-yeol and his previous advocacy for medical privatization. The appointment now awaits President Lee's final decision.
