Denza Z9S Electric Car Promises 1,000km Range and Blazing-Fast Charging

BYD's premium brand, Denza, is making a significant entry into the European market with its new flagship electric sedan, the Z9S. While Denza may be less known to the broader European public, the brand is establishing a dynamic presence, emphasizing design and technology in its offerings.

The Z9S is engineered with Denza's proprietary "FLASH Charging" technology, a system designed for exceptionally rapid charging times. The battery can be replenished from 10% to 70% in a mere five minutes, and from 10% to 97% in just nine minutes. This capability, combined with the vehicle's substantial 122 kWh "Blade Battery," provides a substantial driving range. The rear-wheel-drive version is rated for up to 800 kilometers on the WLTP cycle, while the Chinese CLTC cycle suggests an even higher range of up to 1,100 kilometers for certain configurations.

Performance is another key highlight of the Z9S. The European flagship model is available in various configurations, including a powerful version utilizing three electric motors. This top-tier "Performance" variant delivers close to 1,200 horsepower, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in under three seconds, rivaling the performance of supercars. The range of options includes versions with claimed ranges of 780, 920, and 1,100 kilometers, catering to different consumer needs.

The Denza Z9S represents a significant advancement in electric vehicle technology, particularly in terms of range and charging speed. Its ability to cover distances comparable to a long road trip, such as Athens to Thessaloniki and back, without needing a recharge, showcases the rapid progress in battery technology.
