Devolve Power to States’: Mimiko cites Jethro principle as cure for Nigeria’s governance crisis

Nigeria can overcome its deep-seated governance and insecurity challenges by genuinely transferring power to sub-national governments, according to former Ondo State Governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko. He argued that devolving more authority to states is the essential cure for the nation's administrative gridlock and persistent insecurity.

Mimiko presented this view while speaking at the Pastors’ Seed Service during the 74th Annual Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG). His address, centered on the "Jethro principle," suggested a biblical framework for effective governance and delegation of authority as a means to address Nigeria's complex issues.

The former governor's call for devolution of power echoes ongoing debates within Nigeria about federalism and the distribution of resources and responsibilities.
