Dhofar to host Food Security Forum and Exhibition 2026

The Wilayat of Salalah in Oman's Dhofar Governorate is set to host the Food Security Forum and Exhibition 2026, an event designed to bolster food security, attract investment, and foster sustainable development within the nation's agricultural and food industries. Scheduled for August 10, the forum is a key initiative aligned with Oman Vision 2040's goals for economic diversification and sustainability.

Organized by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) branch in Dhofar, in collaboration with the Office of the Governor of Dhofar and the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources, the forum will be held under the patronage of Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar. It aims to convene decision-makers, investors, entrepreneurs, specialists, and representatives from both public and private sectors to discuss critical issues in food security.

The event represents a strategic step towards strengthening public-private sector partnerships and enabling private-sector institutions to contribute to Oman’s economic diversification goals.

Running concurrently from August 11 to 15, the accompanying exhibition at the Atin Plain will showcase approximately 100 exhibitors. These participants will represent companies and projects involved in agriculture, livestock, fisheries, food industries, modern agricultural technologies, logistics, finance, and investment. The exhibition will provide a platform for showcasing innovations and business opportunities.

The forum's agenda includes specialized working papers addressing food security metrics, usufruct laws, investment support services via the “Tatweer” platform, and investment prospects under the “Invest in Oman” initiative. Sessions will also delve into the development of Najd, financing for agricultural projects, the proposed Najd Agricultural City, and the pivotal role of modern technologies in sustainable food supply chains and logistics. A key focus will be on promoting investment across food security sectors, enhancing economic diversification, and increasing local content through quality projects driven by innovation and advanced technologies.
