Dialogue Fiji rebrands as Democracy Centre

Dialogue Fiji, a non-partisan civil society organization, has officially changed its name to the Centre for Democracy and Dialogue (CDD). This rebranding underscores democracy as its primary mission, while dialogue remains a fundamental aspect of its identity and operational methods.

Nilesh Lal, the Chief Executive of CDD, stated that the name change is not a departure from the organization's history but an acknowledgment of its evolution and contributions to strengthening democracy in Fiji. The European Union Ambassador to Fiji, Barbara Plinkert, lauded the rebranding, viewing it as a reaffirmation of Fiji's commitment to democratic values. She remarked, "This is much more than a change of a name, it is an opportunity to reaffirm a mission that is increasingly important, not only for Fiji but indeed for democracies everywhere."

He described the transition from Dialogue Fiji to the Centre for Democracy and Dialogue as an evolution, not a break from the past, reflecting the expanded scope of the organization's work and its future ambitions. The CDD aims to embed democratic principles deeply within Fiji's culture and institutions, making the abandonment of these principles an untenable option.
