Disabled graduate praises UMJ for providing boundless growth opportunities

Danka Rahmadinah Talogo, a graduate from the Faculty of Agriculture at Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta (UMJ), delivered a moving speech at the university's graduation ceremony on Saturday, May 23, 2026. Representing her fellow graduates, Talogo shared her inspiring journey, reflecting on her time at UMJ not just as a place of academic learning, but as a space that cultivated resilience, camaraderie, and personal growth.

Talogo specifically addressed the university's commitment to inclusivity, stating that UMJ provided a supportive environment for all students, regardless of their background or limitations. She admitted to initial anxieties about potential discrimination due to her disability but found her experience to be the opposite. "I felt an environment that accepted, respected, and viewed a person not by their shortcomings, but by their abilities and potential," she asserted, noting the sense of security, comfort, and ample opportunities for development through various academic and non-academic activities.

Expressing gratitude, Talogo extended her thanks to the university leadership, lecturers, and staff for their unwavering support throughout the students' academic careers. "Thank you for the knowledge, patience, care, and valuable experiences you have given us," she said, acknowledging the educators' dedication in shaping students' characters and futures. She concluded her address by urging her fellow graduates to remain humble, pursue continuous learning and development, and represent UMJ with pride in their future endeavors, emphasizing that graduation marks a new beginning rather than an end.
