Disney's D23 convention previews new X-Men, sequels, and Star Wars

Disney's D23 convention in Anaheim, California, unveiled a slate of upcoming projects across its major studios, with a strong focus on sequels and new additions to established franchises.

Marvel Studios, led by president Kevin Feige, introduced new members of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Adam Driver, Inde Navarrette, and Sadie Sink, who will portray characters like Nathaniel Milbury, Rogue, and Jean Grey, respectively. The presentation offered a glimpse of "Avengers: Doomsday," scheduled for December 2028, which promises an epic battle featuring the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Wakandan warriors against Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.

Lucasfilm announced "Star Wars: Starfighter" for 2027, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the original "Star Wars." Ryan Gosling is set to star in the film.

Pixar revealed new animated features "Gatto" and "Ghost Market," alongside highly anticipated sequels "The Incredibles 3" and "Coco 2." Disney Animation also showcased upcoming sequels, including "Lilo & Stitch 2," featuring Angel, "The Ice Age: Lava World," and "Frozen III." The stars of "Frozen III," Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, and Josh Gad, appeared on stage.

Josh D'Amaro, chairman of Disney Direct-to-Consumer and Entertainment, kicked off the convention's presentations. Jon Favreau also took the stage to discuss his upcoming Disney+ miniseries, "Oswald: The Lucky Rabbit," based on the classic cartoon character.
