Disrupted train services and E6 accidents cause travel chaos near Gardermoen

Travelers near Gardermoen are facing considerable disruptions on Wednesday, with both road and rail networks experiencing significant issues. Train services on the main line (Hovedbanen) are suspended between Oslo S and Lillestrøm because of a grass fire adjacent to the tracks.

Bane Nor, the national railway company, reported that the fire led to track gauge problems, necessitating repairs. "We regularly check the tracks for faults, and the gauge was too wide, which must be rectified. This could be due to the heat," stated press officer Øystein Stavdal Paulsen. Service is also suspended between Lillestrøm and Dal on the Hovedbanen due to track defects at multiple locations. The duration of these repairs remains unknown.

Vy, the train operator, is implementing bus replacements for the affected train services. "All trains between Oslo S and Lillestrøm are canceled. Quite a few trains are affected, so many buses need to be ordered," said Vy press officer Kaja Rydning Moen. The disruptions are impacting a substantial number of train journeys.

Adding to the travel chaos, the E6 highway near Gardermoen has seen two separate accidents. A chain collision involving four vehicles occurred near Arteid bridge towards Jessheim, resulting in one person being taken to Ahus hospital for checks. Another accident was reported at Lindeberg in the direction of Oslo, with no injuries confirmed. These incidents are further complicating traffic conditions for travelers.
