DNCD carries out anti-drug operations in Los Alcarrizos

The Dominican Republic’s anti-drug agency reported 93 simultaneous operations against suspected street-level drug trafficking in Los Alcarrizos and Pedro Brand, resulting in six arrests and the seizure of more than two kilograms of suspected cocaine.

The National Drug Control Directorate, known as the DNCD, said agents confiscated 2,216.6 grams of a white powder believed to be cocaine. The substance was divided into 443 portions. Officers also found 25 packages of suspected marijuana weighing 34.8 grams and a 3.5-gram dose of a rocky material believed to be crack.

The operations covered Los Barrancones, Savica, El Tamarindo, Las Flores, La Guáyiga, Los Americanos, Pueblo Nuevo, El Chucho, La Piña, Los Humildes, Pantoja, El Paraíso and Los Lebrones. Authorities said the actions formed part of focused operations conducted by the Joint Task Force under wider citizen-security strategies.

In addition to the suspected drugs, officers seized three mobile phones, two scales, five bladed weapons, a motorcycle, a communication radio and cash. The DNCD said the six detainees and the evidence were placed under the control of the Public Ministry, which will pursue the corresponding judicial action.
