Doctor Donates GH¢20,000 Reward to Equip Rural Ghanaian Hospital

Dr. Ama Antwiwua Adu-Appiah, a medical doctor recently honored by the Paga Youth Movement (PAYOM) with a GH¢20,000 cash reward, has demonstrated exceptional selflessness by donating the entire sum to Paga Hospital. The reward was given for her decision to accept a posting at the hospital, a facility in a rural and border district that many doctors often decline.

Words would fail me to express how grateful I am to the Paga Youth Movement for the gift they gave me. I received it wholeheartedly. I have used the amount to purchase these medical items and equipment to make my working conditions more comfortable, not just for me, but for the entire medical team.

Instead of using the money for personal needs, Dr. Adu-Appiah chose to invest it in critical medical equipment and consumables. The procured items include three nebulizers, two blood pressure monitoring machines, one fetal Doppler machine, a vein finder, a hemoglobin analyzer, five drip stands, five ward screens, a baby weighing scale, perfuser lines, and various hygiene supplies. This significant contribution aims to enhance the quality and efficiency of healthcare services provided at the hospital.

During the presentation of the items, Dr. Adu-Appiah expressed her gratitude to PAYOM and stated that the donation would improve working conditions for the entire medical team. She also acknowledged her colleagues, Dr. Didier Oteng and Dr. John Aberba, and the nursing staff for their support in acquiring the equipment swiftly. She urged the hospital staff to ensure the proper maintenance of the equipment for long-term patient benefit.

Nurse Manager Zita Abdulaih, accepting the donation on behalf of the hospital, commended Dr. Adu-Appiah for prioritizing patient welfare. She assured the doctor that the equipment would be well-maintained and utilized effectively to improve healthcare services for the people of Paga and neighboring communities. The Paga Youth Movement was also recognized as a dependable partner in supporting local healthcare.
