Doctor Özlem Gültekin's Death Ruled Suspicious After Dying in Her Clinic

Op. Dr. Özlem Gültekin, 48, the estranged wife of news anchor Erhan Çelik, has died at her clinic in Izmir. Gültekin, who was a mother to one child, was found deceased, and her death has been deemed suspicious, prompting an investigation.

An autopsy was conducted on Gültekin's body at the Izmir Forensic Medicine Institute. The exact cause of death is expected to be determined by the autopsy results. Gültekin was laid to rest at Örnekköy Cemetery after the afternoon prayer on Friday.

In December 2025, Gültekin had filed for divorce and submitted a complaint to the prosecutor's office against Erhan Çelik. She alleged that she had been subjected to physical and psychological abuse by him. Gültekin claimed that Çelik had pulled her hair, hit her head against a car window, and made threats.

Following Gültekin's allegations, the prosecutor's office sought a prison sentence for Çelik. The charges included "threatening a woman" and "simple battery against a woman," with a requested sentence ranging from 2 years and 3 months to 5 years and 3 months. Çelik had previously denied the accusations of violence against him.
