MEB warns of fraud: 'Do not trust those asking for money in the ministry's name'

Turkey's Ministry of National Education (MEB) has issued a stern warning against fraudulent activities targeting businesses. The ministry reported receiving complaints that individuals and firms are impersonating ministry units and officials to solicit money.

It should be known that it is absolutely not possible for our Ministry to request money from firms under any name such as social aid, donation, sponsorship, or similar through such illegitimate ways and methods.

These scammers reportedly identify companies that work with or apply to the ministry, using information obtained through the Electronic Public Procurement Platform (EKAP). They then contact these firms via phone or other means, demanding payment under various pretexts.

In a statement on its social media account, MEB clarified that it "absolutely does not request money from firms under any name such as social aid, donations, or sponsorship through such illegitimate channels." The ministry urged citizens and businesses to disregard these baseless and illegal demands, refrain from making any payments, and avoid sharing personal or corporate information.

For the sake of preventing any victimization of our citizens and firms, it is strongly requested that such baseless and illegal demands made using the names of our Ministry or our administrators are absolutely not heeded, no payment is made, and personal or corporate information is not shared.

MEB confirmed that legal proceedings have been initiated against those involved in these fraudulent schemes, and criminal complaints have been filed with the relevant authorities. The ministry emphasized the importance of not falling victim to such scams to prevent any potential harm.
