Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star replaced after vandalism following her death

Dolly Parton’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been replaced after vandals scratched and defaced the singer’s name. The damage was discovered on Monday in central Hollywood, where fans had recently placed flowers and candles around the memorial.

The star, installed in 1984, honors Parton’s career on Hollywood Boulevard. The Hollywood Historic Trust said repairs were carried out on the damaged marker and that a new star would be unveiled on Friday.

Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce said workers removed items that fans had left in memory of the singer before beginning the work. She also said repairs had already been scheduled because the star had developed cracks, meaning the planned maintenance predated the vandalism.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame contains more than 2,800 stars embedded along Hollywood Boulevard. They recognize achievements by individuals and groups across the entertainment industry.
