Dominican athletes to receive over 75 million pesos in incentives after Games success

The Dominican government is set to reward its athletes with substantial incentives totaling at least 75.5 million pesos following their performance at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo. This figure is expected to rise as awards for coaches are still being calculated.

The Dominican government will disburse at least 75.5 million pesos in incentives after the performance of national athletes in the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.

The allocated funds include 53.7 million pesos for individual medals, with specific amounts for gold, silver, and bronze. Additionally, 18.4 million pesos are designated for team sports and 15.4 million pesos for sports federations. Prominent athletes such as sprinter Liranyi Alonso and volleyball player Brenda Castillo are among the major beneficiaries.

Of the general amount, 53.7 million pesos correspond to individual medals, distributed between 26.2 million pesos for gold medals, RD$12.8 million for silver, and RD$14.7 million for bronze.

Castillo, in particular, will receive 266,666 pesos for her medal and additional recognition as the best libero, best defender, and best receiver, each carrying a 250,000 peso prize. Her total benefits are projected to exceed one million pesos. Team sports like men's and women's softball, volleyball, basketball, handball, and rugby are also included in the prize distribution. Coaches will receive set amounts based on medal type, with 200,000 pesos for gold, 100,000 for silver, and 75,000 for bronze.

Castillo will receive 266,666 pesos for the medal achieved with the team, to which will be added the contribution announced by the director of Women's National Teams, Cristóbal Marte.
