Dominican authorities seize 26 cocaine packages, arrest three in San Pedro de Macorís

Dominican authorities have dismantled a drug trafficking operation, seizing 26 packages of suspected cocaine and arresting three men in San Pedro de Macorís. The National Directorate of Drug Control (DNCD), in conjunction with the Public Ministry and other state security agencies, executed the raid following extensive intelligence gathering and surveillance.

The operation targeted a structure linked to drug trafficking and organized crime. The raid took place at a residence in the La Vicini sector, which investigations revealed was being used as a hub for storing narcotics. Inside, authorities discovered a suitcase containing the 26 packages of suspected cocaine, each marked with distinct logos and wrapped in adhesive tape.

Those arrested were identified as Argenis Bastardo Castillo, known as "El Patrón"; Andrés Eugenio Berroa, alias "Canita"; and Ramón Antonio Tineo. Notably, Bastardo Castillo has a previous drug trafficking case and was previously extradited from the United States for the same offense. Authorities are continuing their investigation to identify all members of the network and determine their roles.

Simultaneous raids in Santo Domingo Este and Santo Domingo Oeste yielded additional seizures, including two vehicles, electronic devices, a money counting machine, ammunition, and various other items. One additional citizen was detained for questioning in these operations. The three main suspects are now under the control of the San Pedro de Macorís Public Ministry, which will seek pre-trial detention measures. The seized cocaine has been sent to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences for analysis.
