Dominican National Police announces new senior officer appointments

The National Police force is undergoing a series of leadership changes as Director General Major General Ernesto Rodríguez García has issued new appointments for senior and subordinate officers. These directives, enacted on August 26 and 27, aim to reorganize and strengthen various facets of the institution, encompassing operational, investigative, and administrative functions.

The reshuffled positions cover a broad spectrum of police work. Key areas affected include Internal Affairs Investigations, the Cyber Police unit, High-Technology Investigations, Forensic IT Laboratories, and Cyber Patrol. Additionally, changes have been made within the Tourism Police, Human Resources, and the Police Health department, indicating a comprehensive review of the force's structure and leadership.

Several high-ranking officers have been assigned to lead crucial operational departments. Colonel Zauris Belliard Vargas is now the commander of Operational Department I in Villa Mella, Santo Domingo Norte. Colonel Luis Nazario Ferreras Herasme will take charge of Operational Department I in Las Terrenas, while Colonel Silvano Ubri Rosario assumes command of Operational Department I in Samaná. Colonel Alberto Antonio Coronado Pineda has been appointed to Operational Department I in Nagua.

Further appointments include Colonel Julio C. Cordero Pérez as deputy director of the Cyber Police area and Colonel Roger A. Reynoso Vargas as commander of Operational Department II for Internal Affairs Investigations. In the realm of technology and investigations, Colonel José D. Cohen Gómez will lead the Forensic IT Laboratories and Cyber Patrol, and Lieutenant Colonel Ramón Sánchez Balbuena is appointed commander of Operational Department II for High-Technology Investigations. These appointments signal a strategic focus on modernizing and enhancing the police force's capabilities.
