Dominican immigrant Wilson Aramboles reaches top leadership role in NYPD

Wilson Aramboles, who immigrated to the United States from the Dominican Republic at the age of 10, has achieved the highest-ranking position for a Dominican within the New York City Police Department (NYPD). He now leads Special Operations, a critical bureau responsible for responding to emergencies and supporting other NYPD units.

Aramboles's journey began in the Lillian Wald public housing complex in Manhattan's Lower East Side. His career is marked by remarkable perseverance, sacrifice, and leadership, culminating in 10 promotions over 38 years of service. This ascent places him among the highest-ranking uniformed members of the NYPD and at the forefront of one of its key operational bureaus.
