Dominican Queens of the Caribbean eye seventh straight JCC gold

The Dominican Republic's 'Reinas del Caribe' volleyball team is on the cusp of securing their seventh consecutive Central American and Caribbean Games gold medal. They secured their spot in the final by decisively defeating Puerto Rico 3-0 in the semifinals, maintaining an undefeated streak throughout the tournament.

The team's offense was spearheaded by Yonkaira Peña, who scored 13 points, with Brayelin Martínez contributing 9 points. The victory sets up a final match against Colombia, who eliminated Cuba in their semifinal encounter.

While the first two sets saw the Dominican team comfortably ahead, the third set proved to be a hard-fought battle. Puerto Rico, with strong plays from Decelise Champion and Jennifer Nogueras, managed to tie the score five times. However, the Dominican team's superior attacking prowess and ability to close out the match ultimately prevailed. A crucial point by Brayelin Martínez tied the score at 25-25, and a subsequent error by Ana Jusino of Puerto Rico gave the Dominicans a 27-26 lead. Martínez sealed the match with an ace, securing their place in the final.
