Dominican Republic Forecasts Limited Rain Due to Saharan Dust

The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) anticipates minimal precipitation for Saturday, primarily due to the presence of Saharan dust particles affecting the atmosphere. While the early morning hours are expected to be dry, isolated showers may occur later in the day over the Caribbean coastal areas, the Central Mountains, and parts of the northeastern region.

For the Greater Santo Domingo area, including the National District and Santo Domingo province, Indomet forecasts sunny skies with a hazy appearance and a warm sensation attributed to the Saharan dust. This atmospheric condition is a common occurrence during certain times of the year, impacting air quality and visibility.

Indomet is also monitoring two areas of disorganized showers and thunderstorms associated with tropical waves. The first is located less than 560 kilometers east of the Lesser Antilles, but its probability of cyclonic development has decreased to 10% over the next seven days. The second area is situated hundreds of kilometers southwest of the Cape Verde islands, with a 30% chance of development in the next two days. Indomet continues to monitor both phenomena closely.
