Dominican Republic opens registration for $1,000 education bonus for 2026-2027 school year

The Dominican Republic's Ministry of Education (Minerd) has launched the registration process for the "Bono a Mil por la Educación" (Thousand Bonus for Education) for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year, set to begin on August 24.

Parents, mothers, and legal guardians of students in public schools are urged to verify their information and complete the registration on the official portal, bonoamil.gob.do. The incentive provides a one-time payment of RD$1,000 for each student who is enrolled and actively attending an educational institution from the Initial, Primary, or Secondary levels.

For the next academic period, the government anticipates supporting 948,762 parents and guardians, representing a total of 1,394,482 students nationwide. To register, individuals need their national ID number, an active mobile phone number, and the identification code (ID) for each student under their care. The mobile number is crucial as it will receive a code for withdrawing the funds.

Students' identification codes must be obtained directly from their respective public schools. The Ministry emphasizes the importance of carefully checking all entered numbers, including the student ID and phone number, to prevent errors that could hinder validation. Once the information is confirmed, beneficiaries will receive a Banreservas remittance code via text message, which can be used to collect the payment at any Banco de Reservas branch.
