Dominican Republic revalidates its title in Central American and Caribbean softball

The Dominican Republic has reaffirmed its dominance in men's softball, clinching their second consecutive gold medal at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games held in Santo Domingo. The team achieved this feat by defeating Venezuela 5-1 in a hard-fought final, successfully defending the title they won in the previous edition of the regional competition.

Elias Valerio emerged as the offensive star for the Dominican team, delivering a powerful performance at the plate. He connected for two home runs, scored two runs, and was responsible for driving in four runs. Other key offensive contributions came from Juan Presinal, who hit two singles, and Yoel De Mota and Juan Arias, each with one single. Venezuela had initially taken a lead in the first inning, but the Dominican Republic quickly responded.

Valerio's solo home run in the second inning tied the game, and his second home run in the fifth inning, this time with two runners on base, extended the Dominican lead to 4-1. The home team added another run to seal their victory. The win was credited to Dominican pitcher Yan Carlos "El Pinto" González, while Luis Colombo took the loss for Venezuela. Mexico secured the bronze medal by defeating Panama.
