Dominican Republic routs Curacao 11-1 in CAC Games baseball

Esmil Rogers delivered a dominant pitching performance, backed by a potent 15-hit offense, as the Dominican Republic secured an 11-1 mercy-rule victory over Curacao in five innings. The win closed out Saturday's action in the 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games baseball tournament.Rogers (1-0) was stellar on the mound, tossing five innings of one-run ball, surrendering just three hits while striking out seven. He retired the final 13 batters he faced. Curacao's Arlison Rodríguez (0-1) took the loss after allowing two runs on four hits in 1⅓ innings.The Dominican offense exploded for six runs in the bottom of the first inning after falling behind early. Raimel Tapia doubled and scored the first run on an RBI single. Deivy Muñoz then tripled in a run, and another scored on a wild pitch. Yairo Muñoz added an RBI single, and Alfredo Reyes surprised with a bunt that allowed two more runs to score, making it 6-1.The Dominican team continued its offensive barrage in the second inning with an RBI single from Ricardo Céspedes and another run-scoring hit from Michael De León, extending the lead to 8-1. Two more runs were added in the third, and the knockout blow came in the fifth to seal the Dominican triumph.Yairo Muñoz led the Dominican charge, going 3-for-3 with three RBIs. Ricardo Céspedes went 3-for-2 with two RBIs, Deivy Muñoz was 4-for-3 with a triple, three runs scored, and one RBI, Michael De León went 3-for-2 with one RBI, and Raimel Tapia was 4-for-2 with a double and a run scored.For Curacao, Tommy van de Sanden went 2-for-1 with an RBI, and Delon Llewellyn was 2-for-1 with a run scored and a walk.The Dominican Republic is scheduled to play Cuba next on Sunday at 8:30 PM.
