Dominican Republic's Health Service names new directors for key hospitals

The Dominican Republic's National Health Service (SNS) has initiated a leadership reshuffle, appointing new directors to several public hospitals. The move, spearheaded by SNS Executive Director Julio Landrón, aims to bolster management and guarantee "timely, safe, humanized, and quality" healthcare services throughout the public network.

These designations are part of broader efforts to enhance the organization and administration of public health centers. The SNS is conducting assessments to identify needs and implement strategic actions to strengthen the Public Network, focusing on improving care quality, optimizing resources, and effectively meeting population needs.

Dr. Gewil Elías Acosta, a neurology specialist, has been appointed as the interim director of the Padre Billini University Hospital. With over two decades of professional experience and training in Hospital and Business Management, Acosta has previously served at the Hospital Inmaculada Concepción and held managerial roles in the private sector. He pledged to prioritize patient care and focus on strengthening services for renal patients.

Dr. Jenny Olivero is the new director of the Dr. Jaime Mota Regional Hospital. A graduate of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) with extensive training in health management and administration, Olivero brings over ten years of experience in the health sector. Her previous roles include director of the Vicente Noble Municipal Hospital and various positions at the Dr. Jaime Mota Regional Hospital, such as deputy director and head of surgical and medical audit departments.

Additionally, Dr. Persia Bernalisi Mateo Castillo has been sworn in as the new director of the Galván Municipal Hospital. These appointments signify the SNS's commitment to reinforcing the leadership and operational efficiency of its healthcare facilities across different regions.
