Dompet Dhuafa Team Serves Hundreds of NTT Earthquake Survivors

A Disaster Management Center (DMC) Dompet Dhuafa team arrived in Maumere, NTT, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, to assist earthquake survivors. The team joined joint SAR efforts to help evacuate and relocate refugees from temporary posts to Gelora Stadium, which is now a designated shelter.

Dompet Dhuafa is coordinating with various agencies to identify and meet the needs of survivors. They established a "Warm Post" at Gelora Samador Stadium, serving 670 families. Additionally, the LKC Dompet Dhuafa team set up a temporary medical post in Ronting, East Manggarai Regency, offering basic health services and assessments.

For the refugee posts, they are here at Gelora Stadium. We are preparing to open a Warm Post while coordinating the next route.

Medical services have begun, with teams providing examinations and basic treatments. Many residents, including children and mothers, gathered for health checks. The LKC team has treated survivors with injuries sustained during the 7.7 magnitude earthquake. "Alhamdulillah, with all the limitations, the team in Ronting has started providing services to survivors," said a medical volunteer.

Initial assessments reveal urgent needs for medicine, food, baby supplies, mats, and other logistical items. The earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.7, struck NTT on Saturday, August 15, 2026. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported 38 deaths, two severe injuries, 11 minor injuries, and 2,000 displaced individuals.
