Dongduk Women's University Appoints Im Se-jin as 11th President, Vows New Era of Innovation

Dongduk Women's University has appointed Im Se-jin, a professor in its College of Pharmacy, as its 11th president. The appointment was confirmed by the Dongduk Academic Foundation's board of directors on July 28.

Professor Im, 64, earned his bachelor's degree from Chung-Ang University's College of Pharmacy and his doctorate from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He joined Dongduk Women's University as a professor in 1995 and has since held significant administrative positions, including Dean of Planning and Dean of Academic Affairs, gaining comprehensive experience in the university's educational, research, and administrative operations.

During his presentation as a presidential candidate, Professor Im outlined his vision for the university's future, centered on two key pillars: transitioning to co-education and strengthening its AI and engineering programs. He also proposed detailed strategies to support these initiatives and set 'enhancing global competitiveness' as a core objective, identifying diversified channels for attracting international students and bolstering competitiveness in global university rankings as key tasks.

"We will open a new century of innovation based on Dongduk's proud tradition," Professor Im stated. "We will pursue sustainable innovation that prepares for the future together with our university community."
