Dortmund and Elversberg complete thrilling Bundesliga comebacks

Borussia Dortmund and promoted Elversberg produced dramatic comebacks on Saturday, each winning its second Bundesliga match of the season.

Dortmund trailed Hoffenheim 2-0 early in the second half after goals from Tim Lemperle and Leon Avdullahu. Serhou Guirassy pulled one back, Fabio Silva equalised after 66 minutes, and Albian Hajdari then turned a low ball into his own net four minutes from time as Dortmund won 3-2.

The result gave coach Nico Kovac 107 points from his first 50 games in charge, a club record. Elversberg also came from behind to beat Borussia Moenchengladbach 4-3 in a dream start to its first top-flight campaign. Hugo Bolin scored twice in the first half for the hosts, while David Mokwa replied for Elversberg. The visitors were reduced to the difficulty of playing without coach Vincent Wagner on the touchline after he received a second yellow card.

Joe Scally made it 3-1 after halftime, but Maurice Krattenmacher and Felix Keidel levelled for Elversberg. Krattenmacher scored again in the 92nd minute to secure all three points.

Bayer Leverkusen beat Union Berlin 4-0 for its first points of the season. Ezequiel Fernandez scored inside a minute, Facundo Medina added a second before halftime, and Patrik Schick and Ibrahim Maza struck after the break. Werder Bremen beat RB Leipzig 3-1, while Freiburg won 1-0 at Paderborn. Bayern Munich were due to play Schalke 04 later on Saturday.
