DP candidate Zeng Shengkai registers for Zhubei mayoral election

Zeng Shengkai, the Democratic Progressive Party's candidate for Zhubei mayor in Hsinchu County, officially registered for the election today, accompanied by party representatives and fellow candidates. The event showcased the unity and momentum of the DPP's young team.

Zeng expressed confidence in his campaign, particularly in contrast to the apparent breakdown of the blue-white alliance for the Zhubei mayoral race. He called for a collective "grand slam" victory for the DPP in the year-end elections, encompassing the county magistrate, mayor, councilors, and representatives. Zeng aims to continue Zhubei's positive development, framing this as a consensus among Zhubei residents.

I hope to truly apply the expertise I have accumulated in academia to practical urban governance. Design is not packaging, but seeing people's needs, clarifying problems, integrating different professions and resources, and then completing things step by step.

Prior to registering, Zeng resigned from his position as deputy director at the Cross-Disciplinary Design Science Research Center of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. He stated this was a self-imposed requirement for administrative neutrality and a commitment to his future role. Zeng emphasized his desire to apply his academic expertise in urban governance, viewing design not as mere packaging but as a means to identify needs, solve problems, and integrate resources to achieve goals.

He believes the rapidly growing city of Zhubei requires a comprehensive governance approach that integrates transportation, education, care services, public spaces, and urban development, rather than isolated projects or policies. Zeng views this transition from an academic to a political role as an expansion of responsibility, promising to hold himself to a higher standard and ensure policies have clear methods, timelines, and verifiable results for citizens.
