"Drachenlord": Thousands gather in former hometown despite ban

Thousands of people converged on the Bavarian town of Emskirchen on Saturday for a gathering known as a "Schanzenfest," centered around the controversial YouTuber "Drachenlord." The event took place despite a ban, highlighting the ongoing dispute involving the online personality who formerly resided in the small town.

Police described the atmosphere as "aggressive," reporting instances of violence and making several arrests. Approximately 3,500 individuals were counted at the peak of the gathering on the outskirts of Altschauerberg. Law enforcement officials prevented participants from entering the town itself, but faced insults and attacks. Fireworks were reportedly thrown at police horses, leading to some arrests.

This event is the latest in a long-standing conflict between the YouTuber and his detractors. "Drachenlord," who published videos documenting his life and often expressing extreme views, has been a source of constant disruption for years. Police were frequently called to the area to address disturbances, property damage, and assaults.

The YouTuber has since sold his house and moved away. However, the "Schanzenfest" tradition persisted, with thousands gathering in 2025 as well. Authorities had extended a previous order prohibiting gatherings of more than eight people in an attempt to prevent this year's event, but were ultimately unable to stop the assembly. Several opponents have faced legal consequences for offenses against the "Drachenlord," who himself has been convicted of assault following mutual altercations.
