Dramatic finish in Vesturbær showdown

KR and Víkingur appeared headed for a goalless draw, then produced two goals in the final moments of a dramatic match at Meistaravellir in Vesturbær.

Víkingur substitute Ármann Ingi Finnbogason opened the scoring in stoppage time. He received the ball from Nikolaj Hansen and curled a superb finish into the far top corner from outside the right side of the penalty area.

KR refused to concede defeat. Arnór Ingvi Traustason headed in from close range in the final seconds of added time to make it 1-1.

Both teams had chances before the break. KR looked more dangerous early on, but Aron Snær Friðriksson made strong saves from Gabríel Hrannar Eyjólfsson and Arnór Ingvi Traustason. Víkingur also threatened when Aron Elís Þrándarson and Valdimar Þór Ingimundarson got through on goal, although Halldór Snær Georgsson saved from Aron and Valdimar missed the target.

The second half produced fewer opportunities. Orri Hrafn Kjartansson came close in the 71st minute when his effort struck the crossbar after an attack down the left. The result left Víkingur seven points clear at the top, with Fram second and KR third.
