Drapienė to Lead Vilnius Waste System Administrator

Eglė Drapienė has been appointed as the new director of "Vilniaus atliekų sistemos administratorius" (VASA), the waste management system administrator for Vilnius. She secured the position after winning a public competition and will serve a five-year term.

Vilnius City Municipality Administration Director Adomas Bužinskas expressed confidence in Drapienė's leadership. He stated that her experience in managing change and her strategic approach will help VASA enhance waste management administration in the city. This includes improving data-driven decisions, optimizing processes, and increasing service quality for residents.

Drapienė brings a wealth of experience to the role. She previously led the Regional Development Department and worked as a project portfolio manager within the EPSO-G group of companies. She also served on the board of the energy company "Tetas." Most recently, she temporarily led the Vilnius County Waste Management Center and was an independent board member there since 2024.

Drapienė emphasized that VASA is entering a crucial phase to strengthen its role as a data-driven competence center for Vilnius's waste management system. She aims to ensure VASA's operations are transparent to residents, add value for the municipality, and build trust with partners. Together with her team, she plans to boost operational efficiency, improve service oversight, and consistently advance waste management in Vilnius.

Drapienė succeeds Daiva Garbaliauskaitė, who left the position at the end of February. Martynas Augaitis, director of customer service at "Vilniaus vandenys," had been serving as interim director. VASA is responsible for administering the waste management system in Vilnius, monitoring waste handling, and providing information to residents and municipal institutions.
