Driver arrested after intentionally hitting pedestrian

Police in Reykjavik arrested a driver who allegedly intentionally struck a pedestrian while under the influence of alcohol and drugs. The incident occurred after the driver first collided with a parked vehicle.

The pedestrian sustained minor injuries. The driver was taken to a police station and held in a cell. This incident is part of a busy period for law enforcement, with 87 cases recorded between 5 p.m. yesterday and 5 a.m. today. A total of six individuals were held in police custody overnight.

In other police reports, a crane operator forgot to lower the crane before driving under a pedestrian bridge, causing significant damage to both the bridge and the crane. Police also intervened with two young girls, aged 11 and 15, in downtown Reykjavik, who were taken to the station to be picked up by their parents. Additionally, a man wanted for numerous offenses was arrested in central Reykjavik, and another was caught stealing from gardens in Hafnarfjordur. A man in Breiðholt was arrested on suspicion of assault and weapons law violations.
