Driver flees accident scene after offering payment instead of police involvement in Turkey

A minor traffic accident occurred on the Safranbolu-Bartın highway near the Akçasu TOKİ junction, involving a light commercial vehicle and a car. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, although both vehicles sustained material damage.

According to reports, the driver of the car involved in the collision allegedly proposed to the other driver that he would pay for the repairs to their vehicle as compensation, rather than having the police involved. This exchange was reportedly captured on a mobile phone camera.

When police were called to the scene, the car driver, who was allegedly intoxicated, fled the location moments before the officers arrived. Police have initiated an investigation to identify and apprehend the driver.

Authorities have issued various fines totaling 51,662 Turkish Lira to the car's license plate for multiple offenses. The vehicles involved were subsequently removed from the scene by a tow truck.
