Drivers in Medellín and the surrounding Aburrá Valley must adhere to the 'pico y placa' traffic restriction on Friday, August 14, 2026. This measure, part of the ongoing rotation for the second half of the year, aims to manage traffic flow within the metropolitan area.

The restriction impacts private vehicles, two- and four-stroke motorcycles, and taxis. For private vehicles and motorcycles, license plates ending in 7 and 9 are prohibited from circulating between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Taxis with license plates ending in 6 face a similar restriction, with their service ban in effect from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Several key routes are exempt from the 'pico y placa' rule, including the Avenida Regional, the vía Las Palmas, and the vía a Occidente. Additionally, connections between Avenida 33 and Calle 10 with the Regional are also excluded, as are the roads within Medellín's five corregimientos. However, the restriction does apply to roads within the city's neighborhoods, and the Autopista Sur in Bello and Itagüí remains subject to the measure despite the Avenida Regional's exemption in Medellín.
