Drone attack on tanker evacuating injured personnel in Black Sea

An LPG tanker, the 'GAS NERO,' sustained a drone attack and subsequent fire in the Black Sea while transporting rescued injured personnel. The incident occurred on July 16, prompting a distress call and a swift firefighting response.

The 'GAS NERO' LPG tanker, which delivered 2 rescued injured Filipino personnel from the 'GAS AURA' ship, which was subjected to a drone attack in Russia/Kavkaz on July 15, requested assistance due to a fire caused by a drone attack in the Black Sea.

The tanker had been involved in a rescue operation the previous day. On July 15, the 'GAS AURA' LPG tanker suffered a drone attack near Kavkaz, Russia, resulting in two injured Filipino crew members. The 'GAS NERO' subsequently evacuated these injured sailors.

On July 16, while sailing off the coast of Sinop, Turkey, the 'GAS NERO' itself became the target of a drone attack. The impact caused a fire onboard, leading the vessel to request assistance. Responding to the emergency, firefighting tugs coordinated by the Samsun Port Authority arrived promptly and successfully extinguished the blaze.

With the timely intervention of the firefighting tug dispatched to the region under the coordination of the Samsun Port Authority, the fire was extinguished.

The 'GAS NERO' has since reached Trabzon and is currently awaiting repairs. The Maritime Directorate General confirmed the details of the incident and the successful firefighting operation.
