A drone crashed onto a crowded beach in Archip-Osipovka, a resort town on Russia's Black Sea coast, on Monday, causing casualties among sunbathers and swimmers. The incident occurred in shallow waters and on the sandy shore, where dozens were bathing and beach chairs were occupied. Eyewitnesses reported no prior warnings, such as sirens or alert messages, were issued to the vacationers. Archip-Osipovka is located about an hour's drive south of the Black Sea city of Gelendzhik. While Russian authorities initially reported three deaths, local media outlet 93.ru cited eyewitness accounts suggesting seven fatalities and more than 50 injuries.

Krasnodar Governor Veniamin Kondratyev described it as a Ukrainian "attack on civilian infrastructure" but also referred to "drone debris." However, the videos clearly show the entire aircraft exploding on the beach. This incident follows a wave of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russia, with the Russian Defense Ministry claiming to have intercepted over 130 drones by Monday morning. Authorities had issued a general de-escalation alert, but it appears at least one drone was still en route toward the Russian coast.

Some military observers and social media users suggest the drone may have been hit or disrupted by Russian air defenses, possibly a mobile machine-gun unit that engaged the aircraft near the shore. This has led to criticism, with some arguing that if the drone had been intercepted elsewhere, fewer people might have been killed or injured.
