Drug lab producing crystal meth discovered in Mol residential area; 3 arrested

Authorities in Mol, Belgium, have dismantled a clandestine drug laboratory operating within a residential neighborhood, leading to the arrest of three individuals.

The discovery was made in a warehouse situated behind a house on Kruisven, following a tip-off about a suspected drug lab. The facility was reportedly used for the production of crystal meth, a synthetic drug.

During a house search conducted on the morning of the operation, police arrested the residents of the house: a 39-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman. In the afternoon, a third suspect, a 22-year-old Dutch national, was apprehended when he arrived at the scene in a delivery van.

All three suspects were brought before an investigating judge. The judge ordered the detention of the two male suspects, while the woman was released under specific conditions.

Authorities noted the unusual location of the lab, situated within a residential area rather than a remote location. The presence of hazardous materials in such labs poses significant risks of fire and explosions. The civil protection unit has since cleared the site, and the judicial police have completed their initial findings. The investigation is ongoing.
