Four arrested in Belgium for drug dealing via Snapchat

Authorities in Willebroek, Belgium, have arrested four individuals suspected of engaging in drug trafficking through the social media platform Snapchat. The arrests followed an investigation that began in October of the previous year when police intercepted a buyer who had ordered drugs via a Snapchat account.

Further investigation revealed that the same Snapchat account was used to coordinate drug couriers. Although initially registered at an address in Antwerp, the account was also accessed from various locations in Willebroek, leading police to conduct three simultaneous house searches in the town. During these searches, officers seized a significant quantity of illicit substances, including 278 grams of cocaine and 500 grams of cannabis. They also found 47 individual cocaine packages, two precision scales, vacuum bags, and nearly 800 euros in cash.

Two suspects, aged 23 and 27, were subsequently detained by an investigating judge. The other two individuals arrested were released following their interrogation. Some of the suspects were already known to law enforcement for previous drug-related offenses. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to dismantle the network and prevent further drug trafficking activities facilitated by online platforms.
