Drunk driver kills bride hours after wedding in South Carolina

A tragic accident on April 28, 2023, in South Carolina claimed the life of Samantha Hutchinson, a bride celebrating her wedding day. The 34-year-old was killed when Jamie Lee Komoroski, driving under the influence, crashed into her vehicle.

Komoroski, 27, had been drinking at a bar in Folly Beach before getting into a rented car. She was traveling at speeds exceeding 100 km/h in a 40 km/h zone when she collided with the car carrying the newlyweds and two guests. The group had just left their wedding reception when the fatal incident occurred.

Newly released footage shows Komoroski in handcuffs at a police station, crying and repeatedly asking to call her father. She was aware of Hutchinson's death and the severe injuries sustained by the groom and other passengers. Her blood alcohol level was reportedly three times the legal limit.

Komoroski pleaded guilty to charges including driving under the influence resulting in death or serious injury and manslaughter. She received a 25-year prison sentence for the crash that ended Samantha Hutchinson's life just hours after she married her husband, Arik Hutchinson.
