Drunk Military Doctor and Soldier Involved in Separate Accidents in Lithuania

A doctor serving in the Lithuanian military was involved in a traffic accident while driving under the influence of alcohol, police reported. The incident occurred on Saturday around 10 p.m. on the Kaunas–Zapyškis–Šakiai road.

The doctor, born in 1970, was driving a Toyota Camry when the vehicle veered off the road. The car sustained damage in the accident. A pre-trial investigation has been initiated into violations of road traffic safety or vehicle operation rules.

In a separate incident early Saturday morning in Panevėžys, a soldier from the Lithuanian military also drove while intoxicated and caused a collision. The soldier, born in 1997, was driving a BMW on Žiedo Street. He failed to yield and collided with a Volvo S80 that was traveling on the main road within a roundabout. The Volvo was driven by a man born in 1976.

An administrative offense proceeding has been initiated for the traffic rule violation that led to minor health impairment and property damage.
