Druskininkai and Birštonas labor markets stable but face worker shortages

The labor markets in the Lithuanian resort towns of Druskininkai and Birštonas are characterized by stability, yet both face a persistent shortage of qualified workers. The year-round demand driven by tourism and health improvement services ensures a steady flow of job opportunities.

In Druskininkai, the most significant staff deficits are observed in the accommodation and catering sectors, as well as in healthcare and social work. These areas require a consistent influx of personnel to meet the demands of the local economy and its service-oriented industries.

Birštonas, another prominent spa town, is experiencing a particularly strong need for specialists in healthcare and social work. Additionally, the town requires more staff for facility maintenance and the food service industry. Interestingly, the demand for bartenders has seen a decline compared to previous periods.

As of July 1, Druskininkai had 729 individuals seeking employment, while Birštonas registered 115 job seekers. These figures highlight the localized nature of the labor market dynamics within these two popular Lithuanian destinations.
