Dublin Airport records busiest month on record in July

Dublin Airport set a new record in July, serving a historic 3.84 million passengers. This surge marks the 16th consecutive month of passenger growth. Operator daa attributed the record numbers to a combination of factors, including summer holiday travel, passengers journeying to North America for the FIFA World Cup, and increased travel related to Ireland's presidency of the Council of the European Union.

On average, around 123,000 passengers walked through our doors every day of July. That's the equivalent of one and a half times the capacity of Croke Park on All-Ireland final day passing through the airport in just one day, every day last month.

Overall, nearly 22 million people have passed through Dublin Airport in 2026, a 5.2% increase year-on-year. The airport's managing director, Gary McLean, noted that an average of 123,000 passengers traveled through daily in July. He likened this daily volume to filling Croke Park stadium, the venue for Ireland's premier Gaelic games finals, one and a half times over.

This high level of traffic is now the norm during the peak summer period.

Despite the unprecedented passenger numbers, McLean highlighted the efficiency of airport operations. He stated that the vast majority of passengers passed through security in under 20 minutes. This achievement, he emphasized, is a testament to the dedication of the Dublin Airport teams working around the clock to ensure a smooth and safe experience for travelers.
