Dump truck crashes into, topples road sign on Indonesian toll road

A dump truck caused a traffic disruption on the Cijago Toll Road in Indonesia after crashing into and toppling a road sign. The incident happened around 12:45 PM on Friday, July 24, at KM 39+400 heading towards Limo.

According to Kompol Jajuli, head of the PJR Jagorawi toll road police, the truck had stopped on the shoulder for repairs. While the driver was raising the dump bed with the engine off, he attempted to check the gear. The truck was in third gear, and when the driver shifted it to neutral, the vehicle began to slide downhill.

The truck, with its dump bed still raised, then collided with a road sign, bringing it down. The impact stopped the vehicle. The incident caused a traffic jam extending about 500 meters, although two lanes remained open for vehicles to pass.

Because the position was slightly downhill, it started to move with the dump open. It ended up hitting the gantry. The vehicle stopped because it hit the gantry, but the engine was off.

Authorities are currently working to remove the fallen road sign, awaiting a crane for the operation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
