Fire: 3,000 spectators evacuated from a concert atop Puy-de-Dôme

Around 3,000 spectators were preemptively evacuated from a concert at the summit of the Puy-de-Dôme volcano in France late Thursday night after a vegetation fire broke out on its southern slope. The blaze, the origin of which remains unknown, started around 10:30 p.m. and was quickly brought under control by firefighters.

Organizers stated the fire began "at a distance" from the concert area, known as the Nocturnes du Puy-de-Dôme. To ensure safety, attendees were evacuated via the rack railway, the Panoramique des Dômes, and buses. Fortunately, no one was injured or affected by smoke, according to a statement from the organizers.

Approximately fifty firefighters worked to contain the fire, successfully bringing it under control around 1 a.m. The Puy-de-Dôme, a prominent volcano overlooking Clermont-Ferrand, reaches an altitude of 1,465 meters and hosts summer concerts and various events at its peak.
