Dump truck driver charged with impaired driving after reports of swerving

A 27-year-old man from Brampton is facing impaired driving charges after allegedly operating a fully loaded dump truck that was swerving into oncoming traffic in Wellington County. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stated in a news release that officers responded to a traffic complaint around 1:15 p.m. Thursday. The complaint reported a gravel dump truck crossing the center line near Queen Street in Puslinch Township, narrowly avoiding collisions with oncoming vehicles. Following an investigation, police charged the man with operation while impaired, with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 mg or more. The OPP news release also included an image of an alcohol bottle found in the cab of the vehicle. Authorities have suspended the driver's license for 90 days and impounded the dump truck for seven days. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on September 18. The OPP expressed gratitude to the member of the public who reported the vehicle, noting that the call was instrumental in helping to keep the roads safe.
